Social Sharing For Netflix

Netflix Social Sharing

Last week was a big deal if you like to share your watching habits to your social networks. The House and the senate passed a bill last week that would allow you to share what videos (TV Shows, Movies & etc.) to your social networks. Now this is something that Canadian and latin american users have been able to do for a while on Netflix. However, up until now US users have been unable to do this due to the Video Privacy Protection Act. Now that the bill has passed the Senate it only needs a signature from the President which it is expected to receive.

We are pleased that the Senate moved so quickly after the House, We plan to introduce social features for our US members in 2013, after the president signs it.

Now with this news Netflix has announced that it will be bringing social sharing features to its US users in 2013 as soon as President Barack Obama signs the bill into law. This will bring sharing features such as Facebook’s “frictionless sharing” much like how you can share what songs your are listening to or what articles you are reading on the web.
