Roe v. Wade 40 years later

SC

Today the court case Roe v. Wade turns 40 years old. In the 40 years since this case over 55 million abortions have been performed yet the fight still goes on. While the fight remains the same the locations have changed. New focus is being turned to the state legislatures after the Republican party picked up majorities in many states which have allowed them to continue the fight.

40 years later and the fight continues?

With several states working to ban groups like Planned Parenthood as well as banning abortion at large many wonder if we will see a renewed push to visit the law at the national level once again.

While many think there is a new battle ahead polls seems to show the opposite.

In the Pew poll, 63 percent said they do not want the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, a level of support unchanged from surveys conducted 10 and 20 years ago. But the percentage of people who said abortion “is not that important compared to other issues” is on the rise.

With the March for Life occurring this weekend we will once again get to see some of the most fervent opponents of the current law. Whether or not things will change still has time to play out. All that we know is in some states the battle rages on while in others it is becoming less and less of an issue, only time will tell if the issue comes to the national spotlight once again.
